Our Mission
How we come together is how we change the world. By recognizing and valuing different perspectives, characteristics, experiences, and attributes, the Center for Diversity & Inclusion and the Office for Women’s Careers creates and supports an atmosphere of cultural awareness, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging where every person thrives.
Priorities and goals:
- Advocate for the active and transparent recruitment and retention of diverse faculty and trainees
- Continually strive to create a welcoming and engaging environment that allows for meaningful connections
- Provide professional development and leadership support for faculty and trainees who have been historically excluded from medicine
Some of the things we do:
- Create networking and community building opportunities through our DEIB House Staff Council
- Organize lectures, luncheons and other events
- Support diverse faculty for academic promotion
- Assist with general career development and advancement
- Serve as consultants to academic departments on Diversity & Inclusion
- Sponsor awards, including the Minority Faculty Career Development Award (MFCDA) and Family Care Travel Award (FCTA)
- Sponsor summer training and research programs, including the Four Directions and BWH Stars programs
- The CDI also houses the Office for Women’s Careers
